Yah. I;ve been reading the city plans. Apparently the 4 lane road is becoming a 2 lane so we can have a bike lane used half a year. (the other half of the year is winter). Since the 4 lane is often backed up...this will be annoying.

Monday at 2:30 meeting? I'm sure it's just a coincidence that people who have better things to do than be HOA-ish shitheels and - I don't know - are gainfully employed won't find it convenient to attend?
A bag of dicks, they please can be to eating.
Worse, if you showed up, then you would be the convenient "enemy" to freeze, personalize, demonize, and "other", and they might stand a better chance to come to consensus in a hateful manner than even if you hadn't been there. We're dealing with people who think "justice" is a good word to throw around involving speedbumps - they are fucked. in. the. head. Figure out now if you'll need to lawyer up for anything, because they may not stop unless utterly destroyed.

Luckily they aren't HOA....but yeah our city councillor wants to lower speed limits across the whole city to 18mph, and convert the major 4 lane road I live on to a gridlocked two lane to make way for a bike lane.
They have a friendly ear at city council (apparently the councillor was there this monday) so it's tough for the rest of us working shmucks to do anything about it except email him and tell him I won't vote for him. But he just got elected. Derp.

I really love plans to reduce four lanes to two-lanes for bike purposes, when the preparation of a bike lane requires only a tiny fraction the bedding and grade preparation of a real road and would be easy next to it - prep that is present for the main road and being thrown away. It's like... do you even highway engineer, bro?

mine home town added a bunch of "traffic calming" to a lovely hilly street, it made it SO much better. chicanes for everyone! it was a legit fun challenge to drive

I know...they even have mega offsets on this road nothing is close to the property line except one property. Not looking forward to the gridlock.
I guess we'll see what happens. I may move cross country in about a month so it might fall into the "someone's else's problem" sphere.

Hahahaha I've never seen anything like that.
Also how fast were people going if there was a stop sign at the bottom of the hill?
Also how does that go in winter time?

my home town not actually pictured, but extremely similar. the answer is FAST! pretty confident the chicanes made people go faster no slower, and more sideways.

If they want fucking bike lanes, how about the city actually plows the bike paths we already have?
Also, let me know when their next meeting about speed bumps is, as I'd love to show up and present problems.

Oh no no. We have to do it academic style. First open up with any statistics they have for the numbers of speeders going through the neighbourhood. Then bring up how much it would cost everyone to install them. Then mention how it slows down emergency vehicles, can be damaging to vehicles (especially if you can't see them when they're buried in the winter). If all else fails, ask how many people there have received any sort of fine for speeding, then accuse them all of lying (this requires us to stake out the area and watch people for a few nights [takes more time, but should make a few people shit themselves]).
If all this fails, we get those fancy one wheel drift things, do some sweet drifts, release smoke bombs, and escape out the doors, while blasting explicit rap music or punk rock. If there's food, we put laxatives in some cupcakes or whatever.

I hope you're not the first to come up with that. that is just brilliant. however, I'm a bit concerned over the longevity of the wood bridges on the main trail if this is done regularly.

Who the heck are these Acorn people, and why do speedbumps mean "justice"? To what? so the stance crowd won't go on their street?
Speed bumps for xmas is the stupidest phrase ever. like imagine a parent speaking to their child, "Sorry Johnny, I couldn't buy that Playstation you always wanted because we need to buy the city speed bumps for Christmas."
Those stupid 30 KM/H signs in school zones are annoying enough, no more bumps. PLEASE.

You have a point, but I am certain that there is a way to do it without damaging the bridges.
